What Happens If I Put Different Size Tires On My Awd Or 4 X 4 Vehicle?

Jim Jennings Transmission Baltimore

Nothing, until it goes into four wheel drive.....then CABAM!!!! The front tires MUST rotate at the same speed (travel the same distance) as your rear tires and that only happens if they are the same circumference. If they are more than a 1/4" different in circumference and you're driving with all 4 tires are pulling, it will damage the 4 wheel drive mechanism.....transfer case.

The greater the difference in tire size the faster and greater the damage to your transfer case. How does $1,000, $2,000 or more sound. We know tires are expensive, but please make sure your tire store understands "size does matter". Call or stop by Jim Jennings Transmissions and we'll be happy to further your education.
